Mubarak to be incarcerated in Tora once health improves

Ousted president will join former regime figures in south Cairo prison after his recovery, says minister

Egypt's Minister of Justice Mohamed Abdel Aziz has confirmed that ousted president Hosni Mubarak will be incarcerated in Tora Prison once his heath condition improves.

The 83-year-old, who was toppled on February 11 after an 18-day revolt, has been in police custody at Sharm el-Sheikh hospital pending investigation since 13 April.

Mubarak was supposed to be transferred to Cairo's Tora Prison to join many other former regime figures, but has been held at the hospital ever since reportedly suffering a heart attack when first ‎questioned.‎
 
The ex-commander-in-chief is indicted on charges of ‎accumulating illegal profits, ordering the killing of peaceful protesters in the January 25 Revolution and persistent abuse of his unfettered political power.
