One person died and another was injured when unknown assailants attacked a KFC restaurant in the Nile Delta governorate of Menoufiya, state news agency MENA reported.
Eye witnesses said unidentified assailants on a motorcycle kept shooting from an automatic weapon and threw Molotov cocktails at the restaurant, resulting in the death of one restaurant worker and the injury of another.
Civil protection forces along with security forces went to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Bombings and attacks have become frequent since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 amid nationwide protests against his rule.
Last week, militant group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in the North Sinai town of Al-Arish that killed 30 and injured dozens, including at least nine civilians.
