Ten people were injured in five bombings in Alexandria on Tuesday, Aswat Masriya reported.

Seven people were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on the fourth floor of First Montazah police station, local security director Amin Ezzeddin told Aswat Masriya.

Civilians were processing paper work in a passport office when the device went off, a security official said. The building was evacuated and searched.

Two people were injured when an IED went off in a car outside the Second Police Station, and a third outside Raml Station, injuring one person.

Meanwhile, an IED detonated in Tousson town, east of Alexandria, in the vicinity of the local education administration, and a sound bomb went off near Raml police station in downtown Alexandria.

Another blast occurred in Smouha, causing no injuries, according to Aswat Masriya.

Security facilities and key infrastructure sites in Egypt are regular targets of bombings and attacks by local militant groups.

Civilians have also been killed in the violence, which escalated in 2013 after the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.
