Some young protesters released, most remain in custody

The military prosecutor has released 17 protesters pending investigations in the Israeli embassy protests case. They were reportedly released due to their young age and schooling situation.

Over 150 protesters were arrested on Sunday at a protest in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo. The protest was dispersed by the military and state security forces using live ammunition, tear gas and rubber bullets, ending a day-long commemoration of the Nakba (anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel) in front of the embassy.

With efforts to demonstrate at the Rafah border crossing thwarted by the army, the Israeli embassy in Cairo became the focus of protests in solidarity with Palestinians on Nakba Day.
