A bomb exploded near a court complex in Cairo's upscale district of Heliopolis on Tuesday night, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported. 

The improvised bomb was placed under a car parked in front of a public notary office adjacent to the court.

No casualties were reported. 

The explosion shattered the office's facade and its doors.

Two other bombs placed in a nearby street was dismantled, state news agency MENA reported.

Egypt has been hit by a series of bomb attacks recently, reportedly carried out by anti-government Islamist militants. 

Attackers are increasingly targeting economic sites, like electricity pylons and mobile phone stores, in urban areas, with civilians falling victim in the violence.

Egypt has been facing a decade-long Islamist insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula, which spiked after the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Militants have repeatedly attacked police and army sites and personnel in Sinai as well as other parts of the country, leaving hundreds dead and injured.

Early on Tuesday, one civilian and an officer were killed and 45 conscripts injured in two attacks on security forces in Al-Arish, North Sinai.
