Two people were injured by an improvised explosive device near the court complex in Luxor on Thursday, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

It is the latest in a series of attacks on state and commercial targets since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in summer 2013.

On Wednesday, three policemen were injured in a minor bombing in Mansoura, north of Cairo. Unknown assailants placed a bomb under a police vehicle targeting a nearby police station.

The bloodiest attacks have occurred in the border Sinai region, mainly targeting police and military personnel. The violence has killed hundreds in the past 19 months and also led to civilian casualties.

With the Economic Development Conference coming up Friday, explosions have been reported on daily basis over the past week. Several explosions have targeted telecommunication companies and shopping malls, in what is believed to be an attempt to discourage investments that the conference aims to attract.
