Two policemen have been critically injured while attempting to defuse an improvised explosive device in Alexandria.
The wounded were transferred to the police hospital on Monday afternoon, a security source told Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
Officers working at the Fire Department had moved the bomb, which had been placed outside the building, inside to defuse it when it exploded.
On Saturday, another improvised explosive device went off in front of a metro station near Cairo University, injuring eight people.
The attack was later claimed by militant group Ajnad Misr (Soldiers of Egypt), which has claimed a number of bomb attacks.
