At least six have been confirmed dead and three injured in a building collapse in Upper Egypt’s Assiut, Health Ministry official Ahmed Nour has confirmed.
Those killed include three children: Emad Rabie, 2 years, Rahma Rabie, 3 years, and Yasser Rabie, 13 years. All the victims who died in the collapse of the four-storey building seem to be from the same family.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity is to compensate the victims’ families.
It is not uncommon for buildings to collapse in Egypt, often due to their age, illegal extensions and failure to comply with building regulations.
