Russian and Egyptian warships have begun a week of exercises in the Mediterranean.

Russian news agencies on Saturday cited the Defense Ministry as saying the exercises were aimed at practicing protection of coastal areas and would last through June 14.

The Russian vessels in the exercise include the guided missile carrier Moskva and the catamaran missile corvette Samum, along with three other ships.

Egypt's five ships in the "Friendship Bridge 2015" exercises include the frigates Taba and Dumyat.

Unnecessary Provocation!
Doing business with Russia to build the ailing sectors such Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Energy is a good idea, because (a) these are desperately needed investment, and (b) the US is slow to evaluate potential investment in Egypt. However, join military exercises with Russia would have no purpose but further alienate the US administration and Congress. Saudi and the GCC rags are crazy, playing a dangerous game with the Obama Administration, which could backfire on their support from the next administration, they think they can afford that, they don’t need much from the US today. Nevertheless Egypt does not have this luxury, nor it is called for. The golden rule when your main focus is to rebuild the economy is to be a friend with everyone who is willing and able to help down the road! Economic development is a long difficult road, and we need all the help we can get!

They should stay away from Russia and USA, they should make their own army powerful enough to
protect all their interests in middle east, but they are not going to do it because if they make army powerful then army will take over their countries, so they keep army weak and keep Russia and USA as their protectors. Best solution to come out of this quagmire is to implement true democracy in every middle eastern country because then only army can become powerful.
