Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has received an invitation from British Prime Minister David Cameron to visit Great Britain, the Ahram Arabic news website has reported.

El-Sisi has not visited Great Britain since he was sworn in as president in June 2014, following the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

British National Security Adviser Kim Darroch has stressed his country's support to Egypt "during the present period", presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef told Ahram Arabic.

British ambassador to Egypt John Casson stressed Great Britain's unwavering financial support to Egypt, at Egypt's international investment conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in March.

British companies have invested $25 billion in Egypt since 2011, he also said.

The Egyptian president earlier this month returned from a two-day visit to Germany, during which he signed several energy agreements with Germany multinational Siemens to boost Egypt's power supply.
