One hundred and fifty two Yemenis returned to Sana'a from Cairo on Tuesday, state news agency MENA reported, as the conflict in Yemen continues.
Yemenis have been protesting outside their embassy in Cairo to return home since the start of a Saudi-led Arab military operation targeting Houthi rebels in March.
The conflict had largely limited access to Yemen especially after Saudi Arabia soon after starting the operation took control over Yemeni airspace, declaring it a restricted zone. Egypt had canceled commercial flights to Yemen, but eventually resumed them earlier in June.
Yemen Airlines officials told Egyptian media that about five thousand Yemenis have returned home from Cairo. Many had come to Egypt seeking medical treatment, but found themselves stranded after the start of the offensive.
The conflict in Yemen has left hundreds of people dead and thousands displaced. Meanwhile, a source in Sana'a Airport told MENA on Tuesday that two airplanes from ICRC and Doctors Without Borders carrying human aid have landed in Sana'a.
