Egyptian policeman killed in drive-by shooting outside Helwan's Wax Museum

Ahram Online , Tuesday 30 Jun 2015

The killing comes a day after the assassination of Egypt's top prosecutor

A policeman was killed when gunmen in a car opened fire on the policemen guarding the Wax Museum in Cairo's Helwan suburb on Tuesday, an interior ministry source told state news agency MENA.

The policemen shot back at the gunmen, who ran away.

In Beni Suef, also on Tuesday, a person lost their hand when the explosive device they were carrying detonated, before fleeing the scene of the incident, according to MENA.

In recent months, dozens of small bombs have been planted around Egypt, targeting security personnel as well as infrastructure like electricity pylons.
