Egypt's authorities have arrested 20 people accused of being responsible for the April bombing of a military football stadium in Kafr El-Sheikh that left three military cadets dead and six civilians injured.

On 15 April, a bomb exploded in the Egyptian Military Academy in the Nile Delta governorate. The student cadets were waiting at the academy's soccer stadium for a school bus to transport them back to Cairo.

Those arrested include those suspected of planting the bomb, as well as those who facilitated and financed the attack, the Ahram Arabic website reported.

The suspects were instructed to reenact the attack at the stadium on Saturday amid high security.

Militants have targeted security personnel as well as infrastructure installations like electricity pylons with dozens of small bombs planted nationwide in recent months.

Egypt's top prosecutor was killed earlier this week, after a car bomb targeted his convoy near the military academy in Cairo's Heliopolis district.
