The Egyptian army has killed 241 terrorists in North Sinai over the past five days, the army's spokesman said in a statement on Monday.

From 1 to 5 July, the army also arrested four wanted terrorists and 29 other suspects, the statement read.

Four terrorist headquarters were also destroyed, spokesman Mohamed Samir added in a statement on his official Facebook page that also included pictures of the mangled bodies of dead alleged terrorists.

On Saturday, the army published videos of airstrikes on these hideouts.

The statement added that 26 vehicles used by terrorists were destroyed, including 11 land cruisers, while 16 bombs, prepared to attack army and police personnel in the peninsula, were made safe.

Army personnel confiscated a number of militant weapons, including RPGs, machine guns, mortar shells, and hand grenades.

The army has intensified its offensive in the peninsula after simultaneous attacks on military personnel on Wednesday, claimed by Islamist militant group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis (ABM), left at least 21 soldiers dead.

On Saturday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi visited troops in North Sinai, donning his military uniform for the first time since he took office in June 2014, to show his "respect" and "recognition" for their part in the "fight against terrorism."

The decade-long militant insurgency in North Sinai has intensified in the past two years, with hundreds of army and police personnel killed. The army has also announced the killing of hundreds of terrorists.

In November 2014, ABM claimed allegiance to the Islamic State militant group that controls large swathes of Syria and Iraq.

Truth
It was not foriegn media but your own contradictory press releases of security institutions about the no of casualties. The fact is is whenever you hide the facts from your own people if you don't access your own media and people to access to the truth, rumours, speculation will always arsie. Do you thing people will believe whatever you tell them..? NO...your restrictions on freedom of speech and access to information on Egyptian media proves that you are only trying to hide your failures from public. You miserably failed to protect Egypt as you have deviated from you job.Your only interest to rule and supress this nation, not to defend its borders.

Faraz, let's open the source of communications from the Muslim brotherhood terrorists.
That is really in the interest of Egyptians and their security isn't it?? As a Muslim brotherhood that is what you are advocating. Hate to burst your bubble boy, it won't be happening.

This how the hostile media consoired - Part 2
It was easy to differentiate between the initiators and the followers: After the army announced the 17 casualties the formers always tried to discredit the announcement by immediately reminding that senior security sources said 70 killed. The latters did not. By the way DailyNewsEgypt participated to this game to its shame by publishing three days in a row a front page headline saying that Sheikh Zuweid was Under siege. Only many paragraphs deep down did they mentioned that it was the police station which was under siege. Big difference no doubt designed on purpose. The army published the names of all the causalties (Masry al yom) and the funerals and farewell cérémonies were held in every corner of the country.with tens of thousands attending in each funeral. So the army announces 17 casualties and the media 'senior security sources' say it's 70. This means that 53 casualties are ignored or camouflaged in the army report. This means that 53 families will not see their sons again and

This is how the hostile media conspired-Part 1
In short regarding the media vs army narrative: What happened is this: Some hostile media (the usual suspects-you all know which) saw the attack as an opportunity to intoxicate the narrative by right away bandying around huge numbers of casualties. They know this would affect the morale of the country and show Egypt as a looser. They quoted 'senior military sources' or 'health sources' as if they were embedded with the army (yhey were hundred of kilometers away and there was a communication blackout ) as if senior commanders would have nothing better to do than spread alarmist news to media they know is hostile to us. Many other media repeated the same news but it came from the initial scheming sources. They did this thru copy cat, lazyness, sensationalism etc.

Terror & Sexuality
I am not psychologist or social scientism; but I can see a connection between the two Young men are deprived from normal sexual life because of many reasons and they see terror as a way to vent their needs. This is why terrorist leaders promise them by 100 virgins and allow raping and mayhem. It is all about sex stupid.

Not far off
It is not just sex and the terrorists are not that interested in Islam. Look at the street gangs of Central America with the motto, 'Live hard. Die Young.' During the 25 January Revolution, many youth described themselves as dead, 'If they kill me I get a certificate.' Many feel the elites are waging a war against the young. Suicide rates are up. It is a sin, but martyrdom is blessed. IS allows the young the chance to belong and to livr, at least a short time, before death. The way to counter IS is to offer Hope and Opportunity. The elites tell the young to wait and sacrifice for Egypt, but the elites refuse to sacrifice anything.

Egypt is fighting a war against international terrorism
A slap in the face yet again to all foreign nations fully immersed in 5th Gen Warfare against Egypt since 1/25/2011. On 6/1/15 international western media, MB anti-Egypt media and of course Al Jazeera, were sprinting in doing what they do best. Publishing fake news about the terror attack that took place in Sinai. Their reports were already there, ready for broadcast, like pre-made frozen food, defrosted a day earlier for the Terrorism attack! They literaly confirmed Sinai had fallen into terrorist hands the minute they entered Egypt despite the battle had just begun with the Egyptian military. Falsely claiming that casualties from the Armed forces were more than 100! Giving the impression that our forces were fleeing in front of terrorists and parts of Sinai were already under terrorist control. The usual bull crap news of theirs. The sad irony is when events unfolded not in their favor they switched course to Egyptian Armed forces have used excessive for force!!? Tahya Misr

100% correct
Couldn't have said it better - western Media made it sound like 100's of people were killed, no word of the fact that the Army heroically defended Sinai and killed Terrorist/Daesh scum, no, they made it sound like Syria, as if the Army just had huge losses, Daesh is taking over Sinai and the Army is using excessive force against....ehm...whom? They never even bothered. Then the Journalist Syndacate and the little "revolutionary" activists for the Western colonialists moan about the laws being put in place. Obviously, this is a time of war and the first casualty in war is the Truth, and that sort of Propaganda can have a huge impact on the outcome, as we saw with Libya and Syria. But the liberal kids are not able to understand this part. Thank god wiser people are in charge of Egypt. Tahya Misr!!!!!!!!
