Egypt's 1st information minister Abdel-Kader Hatem dies at 93

Egypt's first information minister Abdel-Kader Hatem died on Tuesday at the age of 93.

Born in Alexandrian in 1918, Hatem was also the head of the State Information Service and is the founder of state news agency MENA.

From 1960 till 1965 under late president Gamal Abdel-Nasser, he filled the position of information minister, which no longer exists in Egypt, among other positions he took up.

He was also Egypt's acting prime minister under Abdel-Nasser's successor Anwar El-Sadat during the Six of October war against Israel in the 1970s.

Throughout his life, he wrote around 20 books.
