Youssef Boutros-Ghali, Egypt's ex-minister of finance, has been handed a 30 year prison term in absentia ‎after being convicted of squandering public funds

Youssef Boutros-Ghali, Egypt's ex-minister of finance, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in absentia ‎after been convicted of squandering public funds.‎

The court also ordered him to return LE30 million and pay an additional LE30 million in fines.

Ghali has been on the wanted list for weeks to face the charges but he is still at large and ‎widely believed to have fled the country.‎
