The closing ceremony of the new Suez Canal inauguration began late Thursday, with Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in attendance.
After an opening speech in which presenters saluted El-Sisi, veteran musician Omar Khairat and his orchestra began playing. A performance of the opera Aida is also scheduled.
