A policeman was killed and a number of police officers injured in a raid on Friday in Giza, the interior ministry has announced.
The raid's aim was the capture of two criminals who have been terrorising the heavily populated Faisal district in the governorate of Giza, according to the ministry's statement released on Friday afternoon.
The thugs, brothers, opened fire on the police officers, killing a police sergeant and injuring several police officers, it said. The security forces fired back killing both brothers.
The prosecution is currently investigating the incident.
