Egypt's public university students will begin the 2015-2016 school year on 28 September, the country's Supreme Council of Universities announced on Monday.
The first semester classes will end on 14 January 2016, with exams to be scheduled between 16 and 28 January.
The mid-year vacation will begin on 30 January and end on 11 February.
The council also announced that the second semester will resume on Saturday, 13 February and end on 2 June.
Students will sit for their second semester exams from 4 to 30 June.
Egypt's higher education minister, Ashraf El-Sheihy, was sworn in on Saturday as part of the new cabinet headed by former petroleum minister Sherif Ismail.
