Tunisian President Beji Essebsi will arrive to Cairo on Sunday as part of a two-day visit to Egypt, the Tunisian presidency announced on Wednesday.
President Essebsi was invited by his Egyptian counterpart President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to visit Egypt during former PM Ibrahim Mahlab's visit to Tunis earlier this month.
According to the Tunisian presidency, Essebsi and El-Sisi will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest regional developments.
This will be the first visit to Egypt for President Essebsi since his election as the head of state in Tunisia in December 2014.
Egyptian-Tunisian relations deteriorated after the ousting of Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi in Egypt in July 2013 when the former Tunisian Islamist president Monucif El-Marzouki announced his support for Morsi.
