Military planes are transporting to Cairo some of the bodies of the victims from the Russian plane that crashed in Egypt's Sinai, a medical source told Ahram Arabic news website.

The bodies are being transported to Cairo's Zeinhom Morgue, the source said. Others have been transported to Suez hospital, the same source stated earlier.

A Russian passenger plane carrying 217 passengers crashed on Saturday morning in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula due to a technical failure, according to Egyptian authorities.

An official death toll has yet to be announced. Reuters quoted an officer on the scene saying that the plane was found split into two with at least 100 bodies having been already extracted, while the rest remain inside.
