UK national security advisor's meeting with Egypt's FM cancelled

Jenkins was supposed to discuss counter-terrorism cooperation with FM Shoukry in their meeting

A meeting scheduled for Wednesday afternoon between the UK's national security advisor John Jenkins and Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry was cancelled, the Egyptian foreign affairs ministry announced.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not specify the reason for the cancelled meeting in its brief statement issued on Wednesday afternoon. 

Jenkins arrived to Cairo on Tuesday evening for a three day visit, Ahram Arabic news website reported. 

According to news reports, Jenkins was scheduled to meet Shoukry on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between Egypt and UK in counter-terrorism.

On Tuesday, Shoukry was in Sharm El-Sheikh attending a cabinet meeting.
