6 April Movement spokesperson Mohamed Adel has denied involvement in the demonstration that marched late Friday evening from Tahrir Square to the headquarters of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF).
Adel told Al-Jazeera Mubasher news channel that the movement informed SCAF that they were not organising the demonstration two hours beforehand, and were surprised to read the council’s statement accusing the movement of instigating strife between the army and the people.
Adel added that 6 April did not participate in the rally that headed to the SCAF HQ, adding that they are participating in the Tahrir Square sit-in along with many other political groups.
Adel stated that there is a plan to taint the image of the 6 April Movement. Several movements and groups participating in the Tahrir sit-in issued a statement condemning the SCAF’s accusations against the 6 April Movement.
