Egypt welcomes the agreement between the rival Libyan factions signed on Thursday to form a unity government, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement.
The statement says that Egypt fully supports the agreement as an important step in combating terrorism in Libya.
Ambassador Hamdy Loza, the Egyptian deputy minister of foreign affairs, headed Egypt's delegation in the ceremony to sign the UN-sponsored accord in the Moroccan resort of Skhirat on Thursday. Foreign minister Sameh Shoukry could not attend as he was travelling to the US to attend a meeting on the Syrian crisis.
