Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appointed on Saturday 11 new provincial governors along with five new deputy ministers, state news agency MENA reported. 

The governors were appointed to the governorates of Alexandria, Suez, Gharbiya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Aswan, Port Said, Sharqiya, Minya, Giza, Qalyoubiya and Beni Suef, according to presidency spokesman Alaa Youssef. 

The new deputy ministers will serve in the ministries of higher education, health, communication, education and housing. 

Late Friday, Sharqiya governor Reda Abdel-Salam was sacked from his position by the cabinet for unclear reasons. 

In late October, Egypt's Prime Minister Sherif Ismail accepted the resignation of Hani El-Mesery, the governor of Alexandria, after flooding in the governorate caused the deaths of several people as well as widespread property damage. 

The Egyptian cabinet announced the names of the new officials on Saturday (for brief descriptions of the appointees, click here):

1.     Mohamed Ahmed Abdel-Zaher– Alexandria Governor

2.     Ahmed Helmi Fathi – Suez Governor

3.     Al-Sayed Ibrahim – Kafr El-Sheikh Governor

4.     Magdy Fouad Hegazy – Aswan Governor

5.     Adel Mohamed Ibrahim – Port Said Governor

6.     Khaled Mohamed Saied – Sharqiya Governor

7.     Mohamed Kamal Saied Al-Dali – Giza Governor

8.     Tarek Hassan Nasr – Minya Governor

9.     Reda Farahat – Qalyoubiya Governor

10.  Ahmed Deif Sakr – Gharbiya Governor

11.  Sherif Mohamed Abdel-Aziz – Beni Suef Governor

Deputy ministers:

1.     Essam Khamis – Deputy minister for higher education

2.     Ahmed Al-Geyoushi – Deputy minister for education

3.     Maysa Mohamed – Deputy minister for health and population

4.     Ahmed Adel – Deputy minister for housing
