A baby survived after being thrown out of a hospital window in Tanta, Gharbiya governorate on Tuesday where security forces are searching for three ladies, including his mother, for allegedly committing the act.

A video was uploaded online on Wednesday showing people outside Tanta university hospital saving the recently born infant who was covered in mud. They returned him back to the hospital demanding to know who threw him.

The video went viral on social media in Egypt where users on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook expressed anger and disgust at what happened to the baby.

According to eyewitnesses, three women, including a pregnant woman who is thought to be the infant's mother, entered the obstetrics and gynaecology section on the third floor of the hospital where they claimed that they were there to visit one of their relatives, before heading to the bathrooms and then disappearing.

Security forces are currently searching for the three ladies. It is unclear why the ladies allegedly threw the baby.

The baby is currently at the intensive care unit in the hospital in a stable condition.
