A police officer and two police conscripts were injured on Tuesday afternoon when an IED detonated in Al-Arish in North Sinai, state-owned agency MENA reported.
In statements to MENA, the Ministry of Interior's media centre stated that the IED detonated beside the international highway in the city, while an armoured security vehicle was nearby.
The injured were transferred to hospital to receive treatment, the ministry said.
The security forces are currently investigating the incident.
Militants have killed hundreds of police and army personnel in the past three years in North Sinai, while the authorities have announced that hundreds of militants have been killed in military campaigns in the governorate.
The Islamist group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, affiliated to the Islamic State group, has claimed responsibility for most attacks against security forces in Sinai.
