Tens of people inhabiting Manshiyat Nasser, the slum known as ‘Garbage City’, are interfering with traffic along the Autostrad road, Maadi, by throwing rocks at passing cars. They are doing it out of protest against the government, having not been given the houses they claim to have been promised.

Some families standing on both sides of the street threaten to continue with the activity until the Egyptian government issues a decision to grant them homes.

Security and armed forces have moved to the spot in order to take control of the scene.
