Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya stressed that it will take no part in this Friday’s million-man march called for by Egypt's Sufis, as well as pro-democracy political parties and movements, saying the organisers of the march are seeking to “spread sharia's Islamic principles in Egypt.”
"The Complex of Islamic Studies has warned about the majority of the organisers of this day, saying that they are being funded by Iran to spread sharia's Islamic principles in Egypt,” a statement made by the Islamist group reads.
Al-Jamaa, in the same statement, said the participation in Friday’s march would cause more chaos on the political landscape and further weaken security as well.
The march will be staged to emphasise a civil, modern state in response to last Friday's overtaking of Tahrir Square by Islamists, especially Salafists, who raised hardline Islamic slogans.
