An Egyptian man was shot dead in the North Sinai town of Rafah on Sunday by unidentified gunmen.

The 41-year-old was shot near Rafah Central Hospital.

Egypt's North Sinai has seen a rise in militant attacks since in 2013, which usually target the security forces.

Hundreds of police and military troops have been killed in the attacks, while hundreds of Islamist militants have also been killed in military operations launched to quash the insurgency.
