The Governor of Fayoum Ahmed Ali has acquiesced to the demands of the martyrs’ families, including naming some of the streets and schools after those who were killed while peacefully protesting during Egypt's January 25 Revolution.
It is understood that the names of the streets and schools located in the martyrs’ districts will be changed.
Last night, the governance of Fayoum held an iftar banquet (the meal that breaks the daily Ramadan fast) to commemorate the revolt’s victims and handed over financial compensations to their relatives.
“All the demands of the martyrs’ families are legitimate,” Governor Ali said.
“The martyrs will always be remembered and we have to achieve the freedom and prosperity they wished for.”
