Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Wednesday that he will continue to build and develop the country until either the end of his life or his presidential term.

El-Sisi’s speech comes at a conference where Egypt’s prime minister and some of his cabinet are presenting the country's 2030 economic and development vision.

“[Egypt] is a great country, it can do anything,” the president added.

“[If] you truly love Egypt, I’m telling all Egyptians who are listening to me: Listen to my words only. Only mine,” the president stated  to an applauding audience, in an apparent reference to critics of government policies.

“I’m not lying, I’m not beating around the bush, and I have no other interest except that of my country,” El-Sisi said.
