A general assembly of the Journalists Syndicate was postponed on Friday for two weeks due to the lack of a quorum.

The meeting was also due to discuss the syndicate’s budget, press freedom laws, and violations against journalists and imprisoned reporters.

Ten thousand journalists are members of the syndicate with full voting rights; in order for the general assembly to take place, more than half of those would have had to be present.

The postponed general assembly has been rescheduled for 18 March; for that meeting, over 25 percent of members with full voting rights must be present for the assembly to convene.
