An Egyptian administrative court ordered Saturday all universities to provide students with medical care free of charge.
The court order came following a decision by the head of Damanhour University to decline carrying expenses for medical treatment of a student at the university, who later filed the lawsuit.
The court ruling came as an affirmation of Egyptian law stipulating that it is the right of all students to be treated at the expense of their universities.
The court also confirmed that an earlier decision by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stipulating that each university must establish its own healthcare system and provide medicine to all students free of charge.
In public universities, each student pays at the beginning of the year a fixed amount covering healthcare expenses and services.
