Egypt strongly condemned on Tuesday the bombing that hit the Afghan capital Kabul earlier in the day and left 30 people dead and hundreds others wounded, a statement by Egypt's foreign ministry read.

Egyptian foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid affirmed in the statement Egypt's full solidarity with Afghanistan during these "difficult times.”

A truck bomb tore through central Kabul in the Tuesday attack before a fierce firefight broke out.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in the densely crowded neighbourhood.
