Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed on Saturday in Cairo a number of regional issues and bilateral relations with the French Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Jean Marie Le Guen.
Shoukry said that he talked with Le Guen about the latest developments in Libya and Syria while presenting Egypt’s vision of a political solution in both countries, a statement from the foreign ministry read.
The ministry added that Shoukry expressed his gratitude to the French official for recent deals and cooperation between the two countries, which included joint military training, as well as expected French sale of a military satellite to Cairo.
Le Guen also expressed his wish to strengthen France’s bilateral relations with the Egyptian parliament.
Cairo and Paris have enjoyed close ties since current President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi was elected in 2014.
During the past two years, Egypt and France have signed several arms deal.
