Temperatures in Cairo are expected to reach 47 degrees Celsius on Sunday, only one degree below the highest temperature ever recorded in the city, according to the BBC.
Egypt's Meteorological Authority has said that the heatwave which hit the country on Saturday will last until Tuesday.
But spokesman Waheed Seoudi denied that the temperature would reach 47 degrees on Sunday, insisting that the high would be 43.
Seoudi advises Egyptians to stay hydrated and avoid exposure to direct sunlight for long periods of time.
Temperatures in Cairo on Saturday reached 42 degrees, according to the authority.
