Five children were injured after a ride collapsed at an amusement park in Cairo in the early hours of Friday, the first day of Eid al-Fitr, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
In statements to the press, Al-Waily District Head Essam Kamal said that all five children were injured in the Al-Fardoos Park accident and were referred to several hospitals in the capital to receive medical treatment.
Kamal added that members of the park's management were arrested for putting the ride in use after it was welded following the accident.
Egyptian children usually go on rides in public spaces during Eid holidays.
Following the incident, safety procedures were reinforced at different amusement parks in Cairo to secure visitors celebrating the Eid holiday, Al-Ahram reported.
