Egyptian government hopes meal allowance rise for 62,000 workers will stop strike planned for 20 October

The government has attempted to head off a planned national strike by workers at spinning and weaving companies by signing and approving an agreement to increase meal allowances for 62,000 workers.

The agreement will raise the meal allowance to LE210.

The spinning and weaving workers had planned a national strike scheduled for tomorrow, 20 October, to protest the government's delay in increasing their incentives and meal allowances. It is unclear if the strike will go ahead
