A delegation from the Western Sahara's Polisario movement visited Egypt on Friday to participate in the Arab-African Parliamentary Conference as part of its membership in the African Union (AU), the head of the Egyptian parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee said on Sunday, describing the visit as merely a matter of “protocol.”

Mohamed Orabi said that the visit to the Sharm El-Sheikh conference by Polisario – a group that aims to end Moroccan presence in the Western Sahara – is not a source of tension between Egypt and Morocco.

The former minister of foreign affairs stated that the Polisario delegation did not hold bilateral talks with the Egyptian parliament, adding that Morocco is well-aware of Egypt's position on the Western Sahara issue.
