Egypt braces for cold weather nationwide on Sunday

The Upper Egyptian governorates of Assiut and Sohag will see cold nights, with temperatures dropping to 3 and 4 degrees

Cold temperatures are expected in Egypt nationwide on Sunday, particularly in the northern parts of the country, state news agency MENA reported.

Egypt’s northern governorates will see heavy winds, and a disruption in maritime navigation is expected in both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

Waves in the Mediterranean are expected to reach highs of three to four metres, while the Red Sea will see waves between 1.5 and two metres.

Cairo will see temperature highs of 15 degrees Celsius and lows of 9 degrees, while the coastal governorate of Alexandria will see a high of 14 degrees and a low of 7 degrees.

The tourist resorts of Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada will see daytime highs of 19 and 18 degrees respectively, and night lows of 10 and 9 degrees.

The Upper Egyptian governorates of Assiut and Sohag will see cold nights, with temperatures dropping to 3 and 4 degrees respectively.

Upper Egypt’s Luxor and Aswan governorates will experience a warm day with temperatures between 17 and 19 degrees, though temperatures will drop heavily at nigh to between 6 and 8 degrees.
