Saeed Abdel Khalek, chief editor of Wafd Party's newspaper, died this morning at the age of 65 at Dar El-Fouad Hospital after a long struggle with illness. He was moved to the hospital after suffering from a stroke.

Abdel Khalek was on and off working as the chief editor of the liberal party's newspaper, leaving once because of editorial disputes with former Wafd Party chairman Noaman Gomaa, who ran in the presidential elections in 2005.

During his time away from the Wafd newspaper he worked for the left wing El-Badeel newspaper before returning to the Wafd newspaper two years ago.
