At least one man died and two others were injured in a fire at the 6th October City Mall of Egypt Wednesday, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
Firefighters succeeded in controlling the fire, which erupted in an under-construction shop at the mall, before extending to nearby shops.
The injured were been transferred to Misr International University Hospital in 6th of October City.
Initial investigation revealed the fire erupted due to a gas leakage in one of the maintenance rooms in the mall.
Mall of Egypt, which opened in March, is one of largest shopping malls on the outskirts of Cairo with total investments of EGP 6.3 billion.
