Ahram Online, Monday 21 Nov 2011

About 2,500 activists participated in a march to Tahrir Square to protest against the latest crackdown on protesters by security forces.

The march began from downtown Cairo and arrived in Tahrir Square a few minutes ago. The march included activists from the 6th of April Movement.

The protesters demanded that the military council hand over power to a civil authority immediately. They also demanded that Prime Minister Essam Sharaf step down and that Interior Minister Mansour El Eissawy be prosecuted for the killing of peaceful protesters in the latest uprising.

The clashes began on Saturday when security forces tried to forcibly empty the square from protesters. The Ministry of Health has announced that the violence has left 22 dead, while other sources put the death count at 33.
