Ashraf El-Ashry has been appointed editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Arabic website by the chairman of Al-Ahram, Abdel-Mohsen Salama.
El-Ashry, 54, was previously the deputy editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram daily newspaper.
Aly Mahmoud, who was a journalist for the Arabic website, was appointed his deputy editor-in-chief.
El-Ashry replaces the interim editor in chief Sameh Abdallah, who was appointed in May after former editor in chief Hesham Younis resigned.
