Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated Saturday the newly constructed Mohamed Naguib Military Base located in Al-Hammam area, west of Alexandria, attending the graduation ceremony of military students from a number of colleges.

During the graduation ceremony, El-Sisi hosted Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad, Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Mecca, Khaled bin Faisal, Kuwaiti Defence Minister Mohammed bin Khaled Al Sabah, and Libyan Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, among others.

El-Sisi stated that the attendance of Arab leaders at the graduation ceremony of military students is “proof of unity between Arab countries.”

El-Sisi welcomed the Arab leaders on behalf of the Egyptian people. The leaders presented medals to top of their class military students.

El-Sisi also directed a message to "Egypt's enemies," saying “you will not be able to defeat Egypt or its brothers in the region,” stressing the rejection of "interfering in the domestic affairs of other states."

“[There are] billions spent to destroy countries, including Egypt,” El-Sisi said.

The military base is named after Mohamed Naguib, a leader of the Egyptian revolution in 1952 and the first president of the Republic of Egypt after its establishment on 18 June 1953.

Sunday will mark the 65th anniversary of the 23 July 1952 revolution.

The president said the base was named after Naguib “in dedication” and “respect and appreciation” for him.

The base, reportedly the largest in the Middle East, is built on what used to be a military city, constructed in 1993, and consists of 1,155 buildings built and renovated over the past two years.
