An army officer and three policemen were killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday near Al-Arish in North Sinai, Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The victims were travelling in a private vehicle on Al-Arish-Qantara International Road near Al-Arish when their attackers gunned them down, Ahram said.

Islamist militants have killed hundreds of security personnel in similar attacks in North Sinai in the past four years.
