The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has issued Communique number 87, its third alone on Thursday, discouraging protesters it claims are preparing to take to the streets on Friday in support of Egypt's military rulers.
The statement stressed on the need for Egyptians to unite and work together at such “critical times.” It also emphasised that the time calls for citizens’ “self-restraint” so as to prevent the country from entering a state of chaos.
The statement went on to state the SCAF’s commitment to the January 25 revolution, as Egyptians have been role models to the rest of the world, stressing the importance of upholding that image.
It concludes by assuring that the elections set to take place on 28 November 2011 will go ahead as planned; an important step in the success of the revolution, according to the SCAF.
