Egypt's military ruler Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi warned on Sunday that no one will be allowed to pressure the armed forces, amid mass protests demanding an end to military rule.

Tantawi also confirmed that parliamentary elections will take place as scheduled. Tomorrow sees polls open in the first round of six, covering both upper and lower houses of parliament.

He asked leading politicians Mohamed ElBaradei and Amr Moussa to support newly appointed prime minister Kamal El-Ganzouri, despite vehement rejection of the nomination from protesters in Tahrir Square.

Another Gadaffi
So... F.M Tantawi thinks that nobody can pressure the army. Gadaffi thought so too! Let us remember that there is over 80 million Egyptians that are very unhappy with the armed forces. Therefore, the scale tipped on the side of the people and rather than having another million martyrs, let us hope Tantawi will come to his senses, and accept the young people's ideas of a government of salvation, headed by El Baraday. It makes alot of sense and saves alot of lives. Having the elections in these times of turmoil is a big mistake. You cannot have a democratic election under the present circumstances. The result will not be accepted in a peaceful manner. Please Mr Tantawi reconsider, and think like an Egyptian.
