Gas-cylinder explosion in Egypt's Aswan leaves 49 injured

A gas-cylinder explosion in Egypt's Aswan on Monday evening left 49 people injured, according to Aswan health ministry official Ihab Hanafy.

The incident occured when a gas cylinder exploded into workers in an industrial area of the city, Al-Ahram news website reported.

Hanafy said that 32 of the injured were transferred to Aswan University Hospital, while 17 were transferred to Aswan Public hospital.

Most of the injuries were due to smoke inhallation resulting from the explosion, state-run news agency MENA said.
